THE RESTAURANT

The restaurant can be reached by foot taking the stairs after the main archway, which go from the city hall to the city centre.

Near the Hostaria you will find a parking area which can be accessed from the provincial road that goes from the Piazza del Municipio of Sorano to Sovana.

The completely renovated building has preserved its original architecture reflecting the antique characteristics of the typical housing structures built into the natural forms of the tufa rock.

The atmosphere of the rooms are quite picturesque adorned by stone arched ceilings and a visible old tuff cellar properly illuminated. The furnishings are hand-made wrought iron and wood, and the warming ochre, terracotta and orange colours recall the light which is reflected by this rocky landscape.

On the outside of the building is the "terrazza" or the terrace from which the restaurant is named, which overlooks the river Lente and from the nearby crags the colombarium – the characteristic rural housing structures used prior to Etruscan settlements – can be admired.

The cuisine is characterised by the use of ingredients typical of the traditional culinary art of our territory, based on a careful research and selection of fresh tastes and on maintaining the original savoury flavour of the food products.

A season-based cuisine, special attention is paid to the high quality raw materials, to the preparation of our dishes and that our food is cooked freshly: from a wide variety of bread to the simple or elaborated pasta, from the marmalades and wine jelly used to exalt the rich flavours of the typical cheese products and seasoned meats to the dessert and pastries.

We offer a wine list rich of products produced in our region with a fine selection of wines based on category and quality coming from the local producers.

La Terrazza Aldobrandeschi “Hostaria” will open in March 2007.

Open from: Tuesday evenings to Monday, lunch and dinner.

Closed on: Tuesday, and Wdnesday at lunch.
